Over the (many) years I have been working in the industry I have taken on jobs which require a team of makeup artists from 3 to 30 people! No job is too large or too small for us and I'm also fortunate enough to be able to rely on members of the team taking on additional work in my place when I am already booked on another job. Pre-pandemic we worked for Annabels of Mayfair getting over 200 staff members ready for a huge re-opening celebration - with 30 of us working to a strict timetable being organised by my team co-ordinator Jay James. For three consecutive years we worked on the Kraken Rum Screamfest (see my earlier blogs) which have been as diverse as they were fun to be on, again the team came together to create some spectaculary dark and spooky special effects!
THIS YEAR, almost post-pandemic and although it got off to a slow start with many events being cancelled with organisers still being fairly cautious I am delighted to say that TeamKate have been booked aready for what is set to be the biggest national celebration of the year! We will be creating the makeup for Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee event at Windsor Castle from the 12th-15th May!
So let's meet some of the Team! For the Jubilee event it's my pleasure again to have Tabi Mei-Bo Li as my Lead Assistant. Tabi has worked with and for me on several occasions and, like all my assistants, has her own thriving makeup business. Alongside us will be Tasha Lawrence, Leandro Annunziato, Hannah Stevens and Sam Maddox, all of whom I have worked with before on films and events. Jay James will be co-ordinating the actors and performers ensuring everyone is in the right place at the right time for makeup! The Platinum Jubilee Celebration entitled A Gallop Through History will see over 500 horses and 1,000 performers create a 90 minute piece of spellbinding arena theatre that will include actors and artists, musicians, international military displays from the Commonwealth and Europe, our own Armed Forces , dancers and global equestrian displays. Performed live to an audience of over 5,000 each of the four nights, the event will also be broadcast to the nation on Sunday 15th May by ITV. We are very much looking forward to working on the event and are honoured to be a part of this national celebration!
