Earlier this month I was asked by Exposure London to work at the launch of a new range of clothing for UNIQLO who have teamed up with BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT to produce a new range of clothing. Regular gamers will know that from Overwatch to World of Warcraft, BLIZZARD have produced some of the biggest video game hits in the world and fans of their work are famously passionate about displaying their affection for the gaming studio's various franchises. The shop has teamed up with the game developer to create the UNIQLO X Blizzard Entertainment Collection, as part of its Spring/Summer 2018 UT collection. Featuring designs from games including World of Warcraft, Overwatch , Hearthstone, Diablo III, StarCraft II and Heroes of the Storm, the selection of t-shirts are adorned with character artwork, quotes and logos from the various titles.
To mark the launch of the range - which arrived here in London before other worldwide markets - UNIQLO held an event at their flagship Oxford Street store in London on Saturday June 16 and firstly I was asked to create SFX makeup of some the characters on guests and customers, but after considerable discussion with the brand clients, it was agreed that I would do tattooing of the game logos on customers instead.
.With hundreds of customers likely to attend, I designed, printed and hand cut enough tattoos to keep Team Kate busy throughout the event, which was as expected, had the store full to capacity. Charlotte Arnold who regularly joins me helped make the event a huge success and by 6pm we had tattooed hundreds of customers with the new BLIZZARD logos. The event was a huge success, with Cosplayers, competitions, character photo opportunities and goody bags for the lucky customers who queued early to get in.
