After being impressed by the breadth of Kate’s portfolio, staff from the Winifred Holtby Academy in Hull, Humberside asked Kate to deliver training and development to the Arts Department ahead of the new term specialising in Horror, a genre which was relevant to the four curriculum disciplines – Art, Drama, Music and Dance. The session involved a full Horror demo on a member of staff and then paired working using silicone gel prosthetics and alcohol activated paints where the staff had the opportunity to explore different techniques and skills using professional materials used in TV, film and threatre. The session was delivered to the staff after working with the students who explored zombie, trauma and SFX makeup.
Kate’s extensive knowledge of the body’s anatomy and physiology enables trauma sessions to encompass a wider subject base and students are often surprised to find that it really helps with their biology revision and science based exams after the visual and practical hands-on session using prosthetics to replicate injury and trauma.
